Abstract
With traffic pressure continuing to mount and travel volume increasing daily in our country, it is imperative to accelerate highway construction. To alleviate traffic congestion and reduce public travel burden, shallow buried tunneling construction must be implemented in highway projects to enhance traffic capacity. However, this construction method is highly prone to inducing surface collapse issues, posing severe adverse impacts on highway construction. This paper analyzes the collapse problems caused by shallow buried tunneling construction and proposes corresponding control strategies.

Abstract: With mounting traffic pressure and increasing travel demand in China, accelerating highway construction has become a critical priority. Shallow tunneling techniques are widely implemented to expand transportation capacity and alleviate congestion. However, these construction activities frequently induce ground collapse, creating substantial safety hazards and project delays. This paper analyzes the mechanisms underlying collapse during shallow tunnel excavation and presents corresponding control strategies to address these challenges.
